FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions we get most often about licensed online gambling in Great Britain, and about how this site works.
Legality and licensing
Is online gambling legal in the UK?
Yes. Online gambling is legal in Great Britain and regulated under the Gambling Act 2005. Any business offering gambling to consumers in Great Britain must hold an operating licence from the Gambling Commission, wherever in the world it is based. Northern Ireland has separate legislation.
What is the Gambling Commission?
The Gambling Commission is the statutory regulator for gambling in Great Britain. It issues operating licences, sets the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice that operators must follow, takes enforcement action, and publishes a public register listing every licence holder, its licensed activities, its domains and any regulatory actions.
Who holds the Parimatch and Betmaze licences?
Both brands trade as white labels — they use another company’s British licence. Parimatch’s UK site, parimatch.co.uk, is listed under BV Gaming Limited (the BetVictor business), account no. 39576, licensed for casino, real-event and virtual-event betting, bingo and gambling software. Betmaze’s UK site, betmaze.co.uk, is listed under ProgressPlay Limited, account no. 39335, licensed for casino, real-event betting and bingo. We link to both register entries in each review.
How do I confirm a licence is valid myself?
Search the Gambling Commission public register for the brand, the domain name or the account number shown in the operator’s footer. Open the business entry to see the licensed activities and their status, then check the “Domain names” tab to confirm the site you are using is listed. The “Regulatory actions” tab shows any fines or sanctions.
Can I play on sites without a UK licence?
We strongly advise against it. Unlicensed sites are not supervised by the Gambling Commission, are not connected to GAMSTOP, do not have to follow British rules on age checks, stake limits or bonus terms, and give you no access to an approved dispute-resolution service if something goes wrong.
Accounts, payments and tax
What do I need to open an account?
Operators must verify your name, address and date of birth before you can deposit or gamble — not when you first withdraw. Many checks happen automatically; if they cannot, you may be asked for photo ID and proof of address. You may also be asked about the source of your funds, particularly if you deposit larger amounts.
Which payment methods can I use?
Parimatch accepts Visa and Mastercard debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer, from £5. Betmaze accepts debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard and instant bank payment, from £10. Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since April 2020, including through e-wallets.
How long do withdrawals take?
At Parimatch, withdrawals to Visa cards that support Fast Funds are often completed the same day, and other methods typically take one to three working days. At Betmaze, requests are processed within one working day and then take one to seven working days to arrive, with a 1% fee capped at £3.
Do I pay tax on gambling winnings?
No. Gambling winnings are not subject to income tax or capital gains tax for players in the UK. Operators pay Remote Gaming Duty and other gambling duties instead. This is general information, not tax advice.
What are the rules on bonuses?
Since 19 January 2026, wagering requirements on any gambling bonus offered in Great Britain are capped at 10 times the bonus amount, and promotions that require you to play more than one type of product — such as betting and casino — to unlock a reward are banned. Always read the full terms before opting in.
Protection and responsible gambling
How does self-exclusion work in the UK?
GAMSTOP is the free national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling. Once you register, every online operator licensed in Great Britain must block you for the period you choose — six months, one year or five years. You can also self-exclude directly with any individual operator.
What limits apply to online slots?
Since 2025, online slots in Great Britain have a maximum stake of £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24. Slots must also run at no faster than 2.5 seconds per spin, with no autoplay, turbo or slam-stop features.
Where can I get help?
The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133. GambleAware, GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous also offer advice, counselling and support groups. All of these are linked in the footer of every page on this site.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, 18. Licensed operators must verify your age before you can deposit or gamble, and it is a criminal offence to invite a child to gamble. This site is likewise intended only for those aged 18 and over.
About PrimeCornerHub
Is PrimeCornerHub a casino?
No. We are an independent information publication. We do not accept bets, process payments, manage player accounts or pay prizes. All gambling takes place on the licensed operators’ own sites.
How do you make money?
Through affiliate commissions. If you open an account with an operator through one of our links, that operator may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing, and the terms you get are identical to those of someone who reaches the operator any other way. The full explanation is on our Disclosure page.
Do commissions influence your scores?
No. Scores come from a fixed scorecard applied identically to both operators, and weaknesses — including regulatory sanctions — are published in full even where a commercial agreement exists. No operator can buy a score, a position in the list, or the removal of a criticism.
How often do you update the reviews?
At least every three months, and immediately whenever an operator’s licence status or regulatory record changes on the Gambling Commission register. The date of the last review is shown at the top of each review.
